MARFRIG IS ONE OF THE MAJOR BEEF-PRODUCERS IN ARGENTINA

Brazil and Argentina have always been strategic partners in the economy, with markets that encourage and complement each other. The importance of relations between the countries gave rise to the Brazil-Argentina Friendship Day, introduced by Law no. 13,664/2018, and celebrated this Tuesday the 30th.

Marfrig's operations are a perfect example of how the two markets complement each other. The Brazilian company — the world's leading hamburger producer and one of the world's largest beef producers — owns five units in Argentina, which together employ more than three thousand staff.

Marfrig owns two of the most traditional and best-known Argentinian brands: Paty, a synonym for hamburgers in the country, as is Vienissima for frankfurters. Other Marfrig lines in Argentina include Quick Food, La Morocha, Gaucho´s Beef, Good Mark, Green Life, Paty Viena, ICB, Barfy, Tres Cruces and Good Beef. Fast food chain McDonald's is one of the company's local food service customers.

Marfrig set up in Argentina in mid-2005 and is now one of the country's largest producers and exporters of beef, above all hamburgers, and of frankfurters. Among its export destinations are China, Hong Kong, the European Union, Middle East and the United States.

The company's units in the country have a slaughtering capacity of 1,200 head of cattle daily, and can produce 72,000 tonnes of processed products per year, 39,000 tonnes of hamburgers alone. Operations are located in the towns of Baradero (ham and frankfurter production), Campo Del Tesoro (hamburgers), San Jorge (slaughter and hamburgers) and Villa Mercedes (slaughter), as well as the company's Arroyo Seco unit which produces frozen vegetables.

“Argentina is a market known throughout the world for the superb quality of its meet, and our team in Argentina strives to maintain and leverage this position, by choosing the best animals, supplied by over 800 accredited farmers. The company also does its best to generate and maintain links to farmers through technical support, farm visits and capacity-building initiatives," says Miguel Gularte, CEO of Marfrig's South American operation. “The units are approved to export to the most important markets, and Argentina thus becomes more significant and more attractive in South America".
