MARFRIG BREAKS ITS OWN RECORD FOR AWARDS IN 2021

Marfrig, the world's largest hamburger producer and one of the world's leading beef-producing companies, received five prizes in 2021, awarded by major Brazilian and international communications outlets. ​

The company came first in Exame magazine's Biggest and Best award in the foods and beverages category, which took into consideration the company's financial performance in 2020 — the best in Marfrig's history — as well as its environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators.

Marfrig also won the beef industry category in Globo Rural magazine's Best of Agribusiness awards.

In financial daily Valor Econômico's Valor 1000 prize, Marfrig came second for foods and beverages, and took first prize for profitability/net profit over net equity. In the Forbes Agro 100 ranking, encompassing Brazil's 100 largest agribusiness companies, Marfrig came fourth. Época Negócios 360º magazine placed Marfrig eighth among 34 companies from the foods and beverages industry.

Biggest & Best – Exame 

Marfrig came first in Exame magazine's Biggest and Best award in the foods and beverages category, which took into consideration the company's financial performance in 2020 — the best in Marfrig's history — as well as its environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators. There was a hybrid award-giving ceremony, held on the evening of December 20 at the B32 Theater in São Paulo: it was transmitted online but also had in-person prize-giving. Several company officers took part in the event: Marcos Molina, Controller and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marfrig; Miguel Gularte, CEO; Marcos Fernando Marçal dos Santos, Supply Chain Director; and Heraldo Geres, VP for Legal and HR.  

Best in Agribusiness (Melhores do Agronegócio) - Globo Rural

Having analyzed the company's operating data for 2020, the magazine awarded Marfrig first place prize in the Beef Industry category. The company took part in the live award-giving ceremony with finalists and prize-winners, which addressed how companies had faced the economic scenario.

Época Negócios 360º

Marfrig finished 132nd in the overall ranking (of 418 companies) and came 8th among the 34 from Foods and Beverages. It was a historic edition, marking the 10th anniversary of the yearbook, a partner to Época Negócios magazine and the Dom Cabral Foundation, helping identify and acknowledge the best business practices in Brazil, and to encourage the establishment of a business community committed to the pursuit of excellence, naming the country's best companies.

Valor 1000

In the final ranking of Valor 1000's prize for the Foods and Beverages area in (for 2020), Marfrig came second. Valor carries out this study of the 1000 Best in partnership with Serasa Experian, and São Paulo's Getulio Vargas Foundation Business Administration School (EAESP/FGV-SP). It uses net revenue as the parameter for its ranking and adopts present-day performance-measuring criteria such as EBITDA and indebtedness management, as well as other accounting and financial performance measures. Other Marfrig results:

  • 1st position – profitability – net profit over net equity (industry)
  • 2nd place – net revenue – classification within the industry by annual net sales (10 companies) – industry-wide
  • 8th out of the 20 companies with the largest net profits
  • 9th out of the 20 companies with the largest net PL profitability
  • 5th among the 20 companies with the largest profits from their activities
  • 9th out of the 20 companies with the largest EBITDA
  • 9th in the Overall 'Valor 1000' Ranking (having come 12th in 2019)

Forbes Agro 100
Marfrig earned fourth place in the ranking of one of the world's most important business and economics magazines, among giants in the industries of animal protein, oils, cereals, fruit, bioenergy and forest products. The list includes Brazil's top 100 agribusiness companies.
